From Rootsweb 2007, Jane RICHARDSON (born about 1855 in Melbourne, Victoria) wed in New Zealand in 1875 to Thomas Henry WOONTON.
See Richardson for Jane's brother Andrew in New Zealand.
The parents lived in Oamaru in the Sth Island of NZ, and her brother Andrew William Alexander RICHARDSON (born 1861 East Collingwood, Victoria) moved from Oamaru to Owaka and then to Dunedin New Zealand where he died in 1936.
Thomas may be the Thos WOONTON who arrived in Otago Sep 1874 on the Albion from Melbourne as a 28 yr old miner b England.

Thomas William Woonton’s son Andrew 1910-1985, married Evelyn Adamthwaite 1911-1993 and just to add to the mix, Frances Adamthwaite 1872-1938, married Alfred Davis and one of their sons, John Davis, married Irene Woonton 1895-1986
The other connection is that of Smith / Adamthwaite / Woonton..
1804 Joseph Smith & Mary Ann Hickling.. amongst their 9 children were 1842 Clarence & 1845 Emma.
Clarence married Mary Ann Boyd & their daughter, 1868 Mabel Smith married 1873 Arthur Adamthwaite whose daughter Evelyn is the one I mentioned as married 1910 Andrew Woonton.
Clarence’s sister was of course Emma as married to Joseph Adamthwaite and their son of course, was the just described 1873 Arthur so Arthur in fact, married his cousin.

Hi

Just browsing the net! My grandmother was Olive Maude Adamthwaite who married William Richard Woonton. I have lots of history on the Woonton side including a handwritten chart of the complete family up until my generation. I also have the Adamthwaite Centenary book and handwritten letters from Holderness Adamthwaite whilst he was overseas in WW1 (also Alf Davis letters) - handed down via Olive. My sister has returned from Belgium and visited Menin Gate. She took photos of the Davis grave and the Adamthwaite entry on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belguim. I am happy to share anything with you.

Dear Elizabeth,
Thanks for this excellent page.
I have been looking at the information on Thomas Worroll. His wife travelled to Australia on the Hornet in 1857 – the same boat as him. She travelled under her maiden name. I think she was to work as a maid, and was listed as single. Whoever she was due to work for would have had a surprise, not only was she married, but her first child, Charles Worroll was born on 16 October 1857 (Births in the district of Geelong in the Colony of Victoria Certificate no 120 in 1857). Charles Worroll is my great-grandfather, and Thomas, my great great-grandfather.

Thanks to your excellent clues, I was able to find Ann aged 21, also to find two other ways of spelling their surname, used for the first two sons.
