William Witton

From a Rootsweb query dated 21 Sep 2008, by Berry Dunston,

From on Monday, 3 September 2012
Hi Elizabeth - I note on your page "Pioneer Families in Victoria, Aust." for William Wilton/Witton that I am listed as "Betty Dunston" would it be possible to change this to BERRY ? Thank you! Also, these details are definitely for William WITTON - not Wilton. William and Mary Ann WITTON were married on 19 July 1832 - NOT 1833. You have taken this from an email I wrote years ago and have since been able to find the correct information.
There is also a mention of John RAMSDEN, which should be Ramsdale.
Further down the children of 6. Alice Elizabeth Witton are listed.
No. 8 of these is my grandfather 8. Jacob Edwin Hindhaugh 1880 #868 - 1959 #21156 aged 80 died at Koro?, wed Elsie Haden Cope. (He died at Koroit, Victoria)
The errors are perpetuating incorrect information so I would appreciate the site being edited if possible. Many thanks for your efforts, Berry
Thankyou for the corrections.

John and Elizabeth Ramsdale arrived Circular Head in 1828 on the Caroline, with their children, listed below, their ages at the time of arrival are all circa:
6 children 1. Margaret Ramsdale 16 y/o m. James POWLETT
2. Mary Ann Ramsdale 14 m. William WITTON 19 July,1832? at St John's Church, Launceston
3. Elizabeth Ramsdale 12
4. Jane Ramsdale 10 m. Horacio COOPER
5. Ellen Ramsdale 6 m. Henry Fortescue WEATHERHEAD 1847
6. John Jnr. Ramsdale 3
John Ramsdale became an overseer for Van Diemens Land Company at the Highfield Settlement (Stanley).
It is my understanding that John Ramsdale's role ended at Circular Head on January 18, 1833 and that they all sailed by the next available passage to Launceston, where John purchased land on the North Esk at Vermont, as he is listed in the 1833 census as "Farmer" of "Vermont".
If they did not leave Circular Head until Jan 1833, I am curious about the marriage date I have for child No. 2. Mary Ann Ramsdale, being in July 1832. From diary entries it seems clear Mary Ann met William at St Johns Church, in Launceston, and that he was invited to their home in Vermont before they were married. So it would appear 1832 is in error.
