Hi Elizabeth My family has always thought the Thomas Younghusband who arrived on the Shooting star actually lived near Linton Victoria and married Ann O’Flanagan. My wife is a descendant of Thomas Younghusband from Cumberland. I notice on the shipping records you have displayed there are two other Thomas Younghusband who arrived at other times Our Thomas was born 1835 son of John Younghusband and Margaret Richardson. The Shooting Star fits our dates Our Younghusband family settled at Brownsvale near Linton Victoria. Thomas’ obituary says he arrived there on 1st March 1857 Alan

Thomas and Bridget settled on land, one mile from Newbridge, Victoria towards Laanecoorie, which they sold by auction on 20 February 1872. On 15 June 1871, whilst still residing at Newbridge, Thomas gained selection of leasehold land of 128 acres, being Allotment 10, Section C, in the Agricultural Area of Moliagul in the parish of Tarnagulla, county of Gladstone. Later, 9 March 1881, he acquired a further 60 acres, being Allotment 12A Section C, the lease of Stefano Pola. Stefano had arranged a mortgage with Thomas to pay out an original mortgage held over the land by Joseph Tivey.
