Mary Bawden came from Redruth, Cornwall. I have a copy of her birth certificate and she was born Mary Rickard Bawden on 6th October 1837 to Samuel Bawden and Frances Bawden (nee Francis). Father's occupation was Agent. Residence Chacewater and the birth was registered in Truro, the Sub-district of Kenwyn in the County of Cornwall.
Birth of Catherine Amanda Southey on 16th July 1856 registered in 17th March 1857 Births in the District of Geelong (363 or no 2591) Father George Southey (Hotelkeeper) 38 years - Kent England, married 1849 mother Catherine Southey (nee Bowden) deceased, aged 38 years - Cornwall England.


George Edward Southey went back to Cornwall to marry his wife Cath's sister Mary
A possible departure is when Mr G Southey left 13 Jan 1858 on the Istanbool for London, with Masters G Southey aged 8, Samuel B aged 5 and Sydney aged 3.
