My great grandfather James Smith married Alithea Edith Oakes in 1873. Alithea is the 5th child of John Edmund Walter Oakes and Emma Seline Fowler both feature on you Pioneer family site, although Alithea and her brother Arthur are missing from their children. Alithea was born 1851 at Collingwood.
Also the 1st child of John and Emma Oakes is listed as Emma Mary Oakes. Your site has her marrying William Dunn. This is incorrect as the Oakes who married in 1868 is Mary Emma and she died 1935 at Warragul, Parents are U/K Oakes and Mary Ann Palmer. John and Emma's Daughter Emma Mary Oakes married Richard Oswin in 1883 and they had no children. She died in 1908 at Kew.
Hope this helps, Bruce Smith

William Oaten

From on Monday, 29 July 2013
Dear Elizabeth, A couple of corrections for your tree Pioneers
Family of William Oaten – his wife’s parents have been proven to be Samuel Billett and Ann Allen. The info provided by son James was suspect and research in Somerset has shown us it was Sam and Ann.
Family of James Clough on page James Clough
Peter’s wife’s family name was Deeker (noted as Decker in several places, but Sth African records, and signatures in an 1858 inquest document clearly Deeker) Also later records are Deeker.
Hope this is helpful, Garry Clough
