Hi Elizabeth,
I have just come across your Pioneer web page. There is reference to James Bickford Moysey. The family attributed to him is a blend of two different James Moysey families. I have attached family data pages from both families. James Bickford Moysey [my ancestor] arrived on the "Sea Queen" from Devon in 1844. The other James Moysey arrived on the “Cambodia” from Lincoln in 1852. I will be pleased to supply further information on James Bickford Moysey if you are interested.
Regards, John Sanders
Thankyou - hope I have sorted out the two families correctly.

Found 3 Oct 2005 - birth extract for Robert Phillips Moysey Christening: 28 Apr 1769 son of Hannah and Nicolas Moysey at Ugborough, Devon, England

Shipping records of NSW show Moysey James aged 29 and Susan aged 19 on Sea Queen on 15 April 1844, also Nicholas Bickford aged 21
From the FirstFamilies2001 entry, "In 1844 James Moysey and his cousin Nicholas Bickford 12 Sep 1822 - 11 Mar 1901 (christened 18 Oct 1822 son of Ann and John Bickford at Modbury, Devon, England, wed 1848 to Jane Pearce Wills), took a lease on 5 square miles (3,200 acres) of bush on Port Phillip Bay and called it Beaumaris Run, which they farmed. This area is still called Beaumaris today. In 1849 Nicholas moved on and the lease was reduced to 640 acres (1 sq. mile). In 1852 James purchased the freehold on 80 acres of this land to raise his family of 9 children for 1 pound 1 shilling per acre. In 1881 the family sold up and moved to Narre Warren. James and Susannah are buried at the Old Cheltenham Cemetery, which is on the original Beaumaris Run."

Hello Elizabeth
Yes I do have some info on Frederick Cook as we are descendants of his brother Robert Cook. I looked up PROV shipping records and then confirmed them with your Victoria before 1842 website. The boys above and their sister Harriet arrived Melbourne 18 Jul 1840 on the “Theresa” with their parents Charles Cook and Sarah nee Sellins or Sillins. Harriet 7, Frederick 3, Robert 0 (baby).
By 1841 the family were living at Merri Creek where another daughter Sarah Fanny was born in 1841 and later at Pentridge where Ann was born in 1844. A Sarah Cook, probably the mother, died at Pentridge in Nov 1844 and Ann Cook aged 4 months died at Pentridge in March 1845. (Births and deaths on Vic BDM records, don’t have numbers handy).
Robert and Frederick next known at Mt Cole/Warrak near Ararat where they were Carrier and Bullock Driver. (Lots of sawmills and carriers in this area in 1860’s)
4 Jul 1862 Robert Cook married Sarah Tyrer at Ararat, had 9 chn. Moved to Drouin, Vic.
1876 Frederick Cook married widow Ann Clark nee Moysey. She had 3 living children, they had 2 more daughters, one died Warrak aged 4. Moved to Dixon’s Creek near Yarra Glen and lived and farmed there until deaths in 1906 Fred and 1924 Ann. (She died at South Melbourne, I think at home of one daughter).
I have John Clark’s death as 1874 but do not have the death register to confirm it. I have both Frederick and Ann born in 1838, so same age.
Hope all this helps ... Regards, Jenny
Sarah Tyrer is also in my Ships site - her parents came to Portland, where she was born in 1844, daughter of Mary Connolly and William Tyrer
Robert Cook wed 4 Jul 1862 #2268 to Sarah Tyrer at Ararat, had 9 chn. Moved to Drouin, Vic.
