Hello Elizabeth,
I am interested in one of the pioneer families you have listed on your website - that of Michael Morton and Elizabeth Hawkins. We have been researching this family for some years, and have never been able to find a conclusive record of Elizabeth's arrival.

Michael arrived in Vic 1852 (ex Launceston on "Yarra Yarra") after arriving Hobart Ap 6, 1850 as a convict on "Neptune". They married, according to family documents, in 1854 I think, in Dunolly, settled at Jones's Creek, now Waanyarra (extinct town) and had 8 children. Records of their marriage do not appear to exist, similarly for the birth of their eldest child Catherine around 1855. The dates you have are not right, as they were well settled with several children by 1861.

Elizabeth Morton died aged 5 from burns received when she set her nightdress alight, playing with matches.
Michael Morton also died young, in his twenties, from phthisis (miners' disease). Elizabeth, nee Pearce, his widow, later married John McAvoy.
If you have any further info regarding the arrival of Elizabeth Hawkins (from Roxburgh, Scotland) I would be interested to have access to it.
