Machon 20 Servant, Mary Adelaide Machon 19 Servant, Victoria Machon 15 Dressmaker, Louisa A. Machon 12, Martha C. Machon 10, Lydia Isabella Machon 5 and Thomas Machon inf died at sea, July 13
Frederick Machon, aged 66, native of Hertfordshire; arrived in 1855, by the Anterio/Arturo; died September 24 [1875], of stricture, died in Melbourne Hospital, reported in The ARGUS Summary for Europe, Wednesday, October 6, 1875. (The ship Arturo brought Chinese passengers, March 1855, hospital required details of arrival in Victoria, for all patients, accuracy appears to be not checked.)

One reference suggests David Maddern came to South Aust 1857 on the Marion, another that he arrived 1853 on the Lorn Langton of 923 tons (but I can not find any reference to this ship)
David Stephens Maddern and Margaret Elizabeth Ellison registered one child in the Victorian Index - Laura Blanch Maddern 1883. Mary Ann Maddern, born in 1867 and claiming this couple as parents, gave South Australia as her birthplace, when she married in 1893.
I found three members of the family from the death Index, who each died at Kaniva in young adulthood.

Thomas Maddison 26 May 1822 - 22 July 1896 aged 74 son of Sarah Pepper and Robert Maddison born at Peterborough, Northamptonshire, England, wed 9 Sept 1850 at All Souls, StMarylebone, Middlesex, England to Mary Gibson c1825 - 7 Dec 1908 daughter of Elizabeth Smart and James Gibson born at Horsham, Sussex, England
Thomas & Mary worked in Westminster, London in the household of William Ellice (merchant). Neither mentioned they were married on the 1851 census presumably so they could keep their positions. Thomas was a footman and Mary a kitchen maid. They migrated to Australia around 1853 and their first child in Australia was born in Beechworth 1855. Thomas’ occupation in 1855 was Confectioner. When their 2nd son was born, Thomas was now a miner at Ovens River. They then followed the gold to Morses Creek (Bright) in 1861. Their last child, Edward was born in Harrietville. They finally settled in Corryong were Thomas was a farmer.
