I have some extracts of the parish registry for Parish Church, West Chinnock, Somerset. As you know, the Chinnocks are in the district of Yeovil, Somerset.
The birth entry for Henry Lacey, 1833 shows the mother Susanah Daw
The marriage entry (#70, page 35, 1855) reads: May 5th, 1856. Henry Lacey and Mary Ann Chick. Fathers: Jonathon Lacey and James Chick. Minister: G B Gassons
The baptism entry (#690, page 87, 1856) reads: July 4, 1856. Joseph, son of Mary Ann and Henry Lacy. West Chinnock. Minister: G B Gassons

Henry Lacey died 13/10/1910 at Geelong Hospital, Age: 75 years after 53 years in the Colony, with parents Jonathon Lacey and mother unknown
Mary Ann - Died 20/12/1931, death registered 1932 Reg # 636, at 5 Colac Place, off Maud Street. The death notice in the Geelong Advertiser notes that she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs H Lindsay (i.e.Mary) with parents recorded as Harriet and Benjamin Chick.

Using the IGI with FamilySearch,
Henry aged 75 in 1910 so born c1835, Henry Lacey with father Jonathan comes up as IGI Submitted entries - and one has a full date - Henry Lacey christened son of Jonathan and Susanne Daw 22 Dec 1833 at Merriott, Somerset, England and it looks like the same researcher has a marriage for Susanne Daw and Jonathan Lacey entered - 16 May 1831 at Merriott, Somerset, England

I mentioned the UK Census 1841 and 1851, which can be now accessed via Ancestry and our large Library Genealogy section has a membership which library members can use - and by computer I visited, chose UK Census then England 1841 then got a James Chick resident in West Chinnock, with daughter Mary about a year old.
in 1841 - James Chick 45 Flax dresser, Mary wife 43
John Chick 19, James 15, Henrietta 13, Harriett 12, Isabella 10, Maria 7, Benjamin 3 and Mary 7 months.
the village of about 16 pages, had several families, this one only one with Head - James.

In 1851 I searched for a Mary aged 11 +/-2 and got
Mary Chick aged 12, nurse girl, in the home of
Chas Greenham 29, wife Emma 24, John 3, Chas 1 and Wm 4 months.

Hi Elizabeth,
I am tracking some EDMONDSON (mother in law's maiden name) connections for my wife and her cousin
My wife's aunt Audrey EDMONDSON nee ARNOLD was a daughter of Ernest Immanuel ARNOLD and Louisa Olive LACK, daughter of John Francis LACK and Catherine Christina CUNNINGHAM.
I stumbled across your site today, and your reference to John Francis and Catherine Christina, and her parents James Cunningham and Mary Ann CARRICK. Catherine had a number of siblings born from 1854 to 1873, but in the Victorian Pioneer Index all of the siblings have the mother recorded as Marion Scott, or Marion S, or just Marion. Catherine is the only one where the mother's name is recorded as Mary Ann.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I had a few credits left with Scotlands People, so checked for the marriage of James Cunningham in Edinburgh on 5 June 1849 to Marion Scott Carrick, Marion's father Alexander, a smith, was already deceased.
James and Marion and children Janet born c 1851 and Peter born c 1852 arrived in Victoria in March 1853 aboard the Sir William Molesworth. With them was a Robert Cunningham, aged 9.
The Doig name is interesting as my wife's relative Peter Howman married a Jessie Doig from Edinburgh in 1864 in Beechworth.

The Index for Victorian BMD gives Marion Scott Carrick and James Cunningham in Melbourne by 1854, then about 1857 went to Beechworth.

The Sydney Shipping Gazette (SSG) reports . . January 15:- Ascendant, barque, 562 tons, Spencer, from London 22nd September [1850] and Plymouth 3rd October. Passengers-- George Fife Angas, Esq., Mrs. Angas, Messrs. William Angas, H. Brazil, E. Ridpath, C. Goode, Kay, Fox (Mrs Fox died during voyage) and six children, Gammon, (Religous Instructor,) Dennis Rock, (Surgeon-Superintendent,) and 254 government emigrants in the steerage. There were 4 births and 3 deaths during the voyage. — 1st ship from England to S.A. with government passengers for 1851 ; passenger lists indicates 11 deaths, 3 adults & 8 children , Dennis Rock, surgeon-superintendent.
