George Williams Kirkby (Joseph2, Samuel1) was born 25 March 1812 in Stanstead Rye Hertfordshire England, and died 23 February 1895 in 173 Victoria St Melbourne Victoria No2852. He married (1) Eliza Kempson 27 June 1836 in Shillington Bedford England. She died 1846 in England. He married (2) Charlotte Augusta Collins 1851 in Clerkenwell London England, daughter of James Collins and Eliza Baker. She was born 1828 in Stroude Gloustershire England, and died 18 March 1905 in 120 Armstrong St, Middle Park Melbourne old age heart failure.
George Williams Kirkby aged 41 and his 2nd wife Charlotte Augusta Collins aged 32, arrived January 1854 on the ship Hope with Joseph Kirkby aged 13, James aged 11 and Charles aged 6,
Sydney James Kirkby, Joseph’s son went on to be an Anglican minister and the first minister in charge of the Bush Aid Society and eventually Bishop of Sydney, Edward his uncle started out as a jeweller watchmaker and became a manufacturing electrician where he patented and installed the street fire alarm system for the Melbourne fire brigade among other things, he invented the automatic sprinkler alarm designed timekeeping systems for horse races, was a pioneer of wireless and x-ray.
