From on 21 Feb 2016
George Button Hailes was Harry Hailes' Father who was a timber merchant, who also was a Melbourne Magistrate. He was the Executor for the Will of John Batman, he was John Batmans right hand man. I have a picture of George but not on my pc I'm not very pc literate sorry, but I do have it on my mobile phone, it was sent to me by an unrelated cousin who is also doing research like me on my mothers side, as I'm not that good at this tech stuff ( old people shouldn't play with Technology - meaning ME hahaha) so if you would like the pic let me know. David.
Thankyou David. He has wonderful links with the start of Melbourne, so he is also listed on my web site Hailes on h02, including

From on Sat, 2 Feb 2008

Hi Elizabeth,
I just found your listing for this couple and their children on your website. I was wondering if you are related to them as I am descended from their eldest daughter Mary (who is not listed on your site) who was born in Cornwall prior to their emigration in 1849.
Richard & Grace were married 7th Febrary 1848 in Hayle, Cornwall (according to the information they gave when they the birth of one of their children).
Mary was born 31st August 1848 in Penzance, Cornwall.
Richard, Grace & Mary arrived in Melbourne on the "Osprey" on 2nd March 1849. Richard was the son of Edward Hain and Mary Williams of St Ives, Cornwall.
Cheers, Andrea Fitzgerald
