Received 18 Nov 2002 from Sharon Galloway (my email bounced 28 Nov 2004,) Hi, I sat in Register House and found that Ellen is actually Helen according to the birth records, born June 26th 1815. She came to Adelaide 1839-12-17 on the Duchess of Northumberland, as E M Brice. Her parents are William Brice (plasterer) and Helen Kean. James Galloway was born in Edinburgh on 11th May 1815, son of Alexander Galloway, who was born 7 April, 1787 in Kinghorn or in the New Grey Friars Parish. He was a grocer and a merchant, and wed 16th October 1809 to Margaret Thompson, born in the Lady Yesters Parish. Her father was Andrew Thompson.

Apart from that I have no new info. I found this all out after spending a day at Register House and in the Edinburgh Room in the Edinburgh Library. Cheerio
