I can not find a registered marriage for George and Jane, nor a birth for Joseph Lambert.

From on Thursday, 29 July, 2010
Hullo Elizabeth. Have just been browsing looking for one of my husband's ancestors, Joseph Lambert son of George Lambert and Jane (nee Butterfield) You have George and Jane mentioned on your web page, but I can't work out how they are connected with your lot. I happen to have George and Jane'S marriage certificate. You stated that you don't have it. George Lambert & Jane Butterfield were married in Bradford UK on 4th June 1844

I have applied for any George Lambert death certs. that were possibilities, but they arent our George. He just seems to have disappeared. George and Jane only had the one child Joseph who became quite wealthy, having purchased Blowering Station near Tumut NSW. He married 3 times and produced 20 children. His lady friend was also delivering babies whilst he was married.

For more details see Monaro Pioneers. The family state that Jane Lambert nee Butterfield did not remarry

Thankyou. Looking at the clues, George Lambert is a Comber (One who operated a combing machine in the mills), and Jane is a Drawer (possibly a weavers assistant in the shawl making mills. They sat atop the looms and lifted the heavy warps),
Jane's father Joseph is an Overlooker (A superintendent or overseer, especially in the textile mills. sometimes an hereditary position), and George's father is a Labourer - Yorkshire was famous for wool-spinning and cloth weaving which was carried out in local cottages and farms. By 1841 there were 38 worsted mills in Bradford town and 70 in the borough and it was estimated that two-thirds of the country's wool production was processed in Bradford.
Next I see George Lambert aged 25 is the son of Abraham, so using FamilySearch, and birth estimate of 1820, I found George Lamberts Christened 25 Apr 1819 at Addingham, Yorkshire, England
Next is to see if a marriage is listed - and found Abraham Lamberts wed 13 Dec 1818 to Mary Gill at Addingham, Yorkshire, England
Jane Butterfield is aged 18, daughter of Joseph Butterfield, and as she was living in Bradford at the time of the marriage, she appears to be Jane Butterfield Christened 01 Jan 1826 daughter of Sarah and Joseph Butterfield at Bradford, Yorkshire, England. There are five weddings between a girl named Sarah and a man named Joseph Butterfield in Yrkshire, in the 10 years before Jane's birth, the latest listed is 28 Feb 1825 to Sarah Dibb at Kirkby Overblow, Yorkshire, England
