Edward Eudey

From on Mon, 22 Dec 2003
Elizabeth,
Is it possible for me to add some details to the person listed as Edward Endey?
I am a descendant and would like to correct and add some details to the man who was born and died as Edward Eudey. Half of his children are listed as Endey, probably because shipping lists are spelt this way.
Regards
Rob Smith

Thanks to Rob's clue, I have found the Victorian Pioneer Index lists Edward and Mary 9 times, spells her surname Leaher, Lecher and Letcher, Robert has Endey used twice.

In the Thomas Evans clan you missed my father Leslie louis Evans and you missed Earnest Alfred Evans other son Bruce and you missed Henry, s son of Graham who was News announcer on ABC television  in the early 80s
What I would like to know is where Thomas Evans Born 1823 died 1908 Port Fairy was BORN? It is driving me Crazy! Hope you can Help. Glenda Bigelow
Dear Glenda
The answer to your problem is likely to be in the details on the wedding certificate for Thomas Evans 1823 - 1908 age 85 in Port Fairy, wed 1862 #2606 to Sarah Davis/Davies
My aim is to show how the family arrived and what happened - children born and grand children
Details stop about 1901, after that date I think that searchers should be able to add details they know of parents, etc
I try to avoid invading privacy of the living - difficult when someone gets upset over their ancestors not being 'pure as new fallen snow',
and confusing when, as in this case, I have listed a child who died - Lloyd Trevor Evans 1933 - 1967 #14832 aged 34, but not the children who do not appear in the Vic Births, Marriages and Deaths CDs. Each CD cost over $200, and I have purchased 1844-1888 (Pioneers), 1889-1901 (Federation) and 1921-1985 (Deaths), the other two, 1902-1913 and 1914-1920 were out of print by the time I decided to try to purchase them.
It is, as you know, hard to trace back into UK, and with a surname like Evans, it is hard to pick the 'right one'.
I have the same problem with Willliam Atkinson - I got back to where he was born in UK, then found the parish register had several all called William Atkinson and the approximate age. No wonder people were given Nicknames.
You are in the hard place where buying birth and marriage certificates is the next step
