Dear Elizabeth, I found my Eastgate family on your site and can add some information: Elizabeth Eastgate and Edwin Stephenson are my 2x great grandparents. I am a descendant of their daughter, Eunice.
Edwin was born 1840 in Newcastle, NBD. Edwin's parents were George Stephenson, born 1799 in Haltwhistle, NBD, and Ann nee Medcalf (or Midcalf), born Alston, Cumberland. They arrived in Melbourne on the "Kalmia" in 1852. Less than six months later George died on the goldfields at Campbell's Creek. About 1868 the family moved to Lake Gheringap near Geelong.
George Stephenson's parents were William Stevenson (born Falstone NBD) 1773 and Elizabeth Atkinson
