William Clark, son of Robert, was born in Bowden, Roxburghshire, 10 Mar 1777 and died 7 Nov 1861 in Hawick, Roxburgh, Scotland, aged 84. He married Jane Murray, born 1791, the daughter of Andrew Murray and Isabella Henderson. Jean died 17 Nov 1870 in Hawick, Roxburgh, Scotland, aged 79.

1. Jane Clark was born in Hawick, Scotland, 1852/3 and died aged 4 years on 28 Mar 1857 in Hawick, Roxburgh, Scotland. Cause of death: Scarletina (3 weeks).
2. Mary Clark was born in Hawick, Scotland, 1856. Died at 4 months of age. No official birth or death records have been found.
Andrew Clark came to Australia on his own sometime in mid 1857 and Isabella followed in Feb 1858. It appears that Isabella traveled from Liverpool to Australia on the ship Shooting Star listed is Mrs Clark 40, Isabella Clarke 25 and John Clark 22.

Hi Eliza,
I found your website on Yahoo about the Clark Family. Helen Riddle was the sister of George John Riddle.. Husband of Margaret Clark. Helen Riddle was my Great Great Grandmother.
I have found the following in the "Hawick Word Book" by Douglas Scott concerning George John Riddle and Margaret Clark.... It is available to download on the web. Just do a search for the "Hawick Word Book"
although there seems to be rather a large amount of children mentioned.......... I am not sure if they are all theirs

George John Riddle (1830 - 1920) son of John and Isabella Richardson. He was a tailor and clothier. He married Margaret, daughter of William Clark and Jane Murray, and she died in 1921 aged 91. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1900 when they had 5 sons, 2 daughters and 19 grandchildren, and they lived to see their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
