8. William Edward Boase was killed in action in the first world war in Belgium. Memorial Panel no: 112 29 The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial Belgium.In a statment made to the Enquiry Bureau he was the first man over the ridge at Broodseinde and was hit by a shell. His medals were handed onto his sister Lucy for safe keeping for his oldest son. William was a private No: 6047, was in the 28th Battalion and enlisted on the 16th July 1916. At that time he was 41 years of age ... 5 foot 3 and a half inch tall with blue eyes and brown hair. He married Mary Woosnam sister of Ellen Woosnam, the wife of Philemon. (Two brothers married two sisters) His wife died when Edward was 22 months old and Kevin was 5 months old and the boys were raised by Lucy Boase (Lawson) whose husband had run off with her sister Kate. (Catherine Boase) Lucy (Lawson)Boasehad three daughters of her own, all older than the boys.

2. Kevin BOASE, B: 22 Apr 1913 in Menzies, D: 08 Mar 1965 in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. Notes for Kevin BOASE: Divorced from his first wife on the grounds of desertion. There were no children to this marriage. He later married Jean and was a step-father to her son Bruce. On Tuesday 9th March 1965 Kevin was killed by a falling crate when working at Mortlock Brothers in Hay Street Perth.

Elizabeth Boase aged 36 came Sep 1853 on the Ivanhoe, coming to start a new life with her mariner, William Boase, who had left a family in Cornwall. He is a son of Henry Boase & Hannah Paynter born 10th Nov 1817 but baptised with his brother James 29th Aug 1822 Wesleyan Church St Ives. In 1841 Census both are living at St Ives, Fore Street,1 with John Ninnes, 45, Shopkeeper, as Sailors. They are possibly stepsons as Hannah aged 50, mother of Hannah Ninnes aged 10 and John Ninnes aged 7
