Looking at the website “Victorian Pioneers” I would observe that the Alfred Barnett (18) and Charlotte Barnett who arrived on the Suffolk have no connection with Barnetts you list from IGI.
The Alfred Abraham Barnett who married Julia Joshua in 1857 and had two children registered in Geelong moved on to New Zealand and settled in Wellington where they had 6 further children – my daughter-in-law is descended from one of them, Sir Louis Edward Barnett who, among other achievements was the originator of the move to form the body which eventually became the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
With best wishes, Derek Robinson

From IGI, submitted entry, Alfred Abraham Barnett 1832 - 15 Jul 1908 born Krotoshin, Germany (now Poland) son of : Charlotte Sheindel and Aryeh Leob Barnett or Licthenstad, wed 7 Jan 1857 to Julia Joshua in London, 1836 - 30 May 1899 and died in Wellington, New Zealand, dau of Sarah Solomons and Michael Joshua
Alfred Abraham Barnett and Julia Joshua lived in Geelong when they registered

Good afternoon
I am the great granddaughter of Alfred and Laura. There were actually 12 Barnett children born to this couple.
Our family history has him arriving with his father Thomas Barnett who was married to Jane nee Wingfield. There is some query over surnames as it is possible they were originally Parson.
He was born in London on 11/4/1844 and died in Dunolly in October 1904/ Report in the Dunolly paper.
He married Laura Elizabeth Walker on the 5 Mar 1874 at Dunolly district of Avoca. Written consent of David Walker (father of the bride), married by Henry Downes Smith, Minister of the Gospel.
Children were Alfred, Clement, Arthur, William, Walter (my grandfather), Mabel, Elsie, Henry, Ellen, Ruth, Laura, and Raymond.

Added Wed, 2 Jan 2008
I have just located Thomas Barnett's photo on the State Library of Victoria Site. He is photographed among the pioneers and leading citizens of Dunolly.
Grand daughter Nell, in a note signed 'Aunty Nell', wrote "My grand father's name was Thomas and he was 86 when he died (in 1897). Father was the only son, he had two sisters, one was called Mirriam and the other became Mrs Yates. The family came to Adelaide when Father was 7 years old (about 1851)".

From "jennifer yates" - email bounced - Date: Fri, 29 Oct 1999, Subject: YATES; Dunolly: 1860's-1870's

John Henry YATES was my gr-gandfather. My first record of John was when he married my gr-grandmother Marian BARNETT in Dunolly in 1868. Marian was the daughter of Thomas Barnett, a very respected pioneer in the Dunnoly area who was the recipient of an impressive obituary in a local paper when he died in 1897 in Dunolly. John Henry Yates was a partner & fellow shareholder in many gold mining ventures, including the fabulous Queen's Birhday Mine. James Flett in his book ":Dunolly" said that both Barnett & Yates died rich men.
