Archibald McLaren and Caroline Flack Allan

William Allan wed 24 Aug 1819 to Margaret Fletcher in Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
I have not found when their son, born about 1833, arrived in Victoria the first time.

Caroline Flack aged 17 came Jun 1853 on the Childe Harold.
Frederick Flack wed Jan-Mar 1853 to Harriet Foreman in district Linton spans the boundaries of the counties of Cambridgeshire and Essex and boarded the Childe Harold as Frederick Flack aged 23 and Harriet Flack aged 21, as Assisted British Immigrants
Harriet Flack died 1854 #1580 aged 23, daughter of Mary and William Foreman.
Frederick Flack c1830 wed 1857 #2433 to Elizabeth Kenworthy 1840 - 1893 #10783 aged 53 dau of Elizabeth Buckley and John Kenworthy, died at Maldon.
Wayne Woonton has purchased the wedding certificate, for 5 Aug 1857, at the Minister's House, Carisbrook, we see Frederick Flack says he is aged 27, Bachelor, born in Halstead, Essex, son of Harriet Siggs and George Flack, now a miner living at Back Creek near Carisbrook. Elizabeth is aged 17, born in Sydney, dau of John and Ann Kenworthy, father a carpenter, and she is living at Kangaroo Gulley.

Returned to Scotland From Wayne - Spotted the 1861 Scottish Census with Archibald, Caroline, Frederick (4) & Caroline(1) so I guess that helps narrow down the year of their return..

Thomas Pole (son of James & Mary) & Caroline Elizabeth Allan were my Great Granparents via their daughter Jane Elizabeth 1882/1945 who married my Pop, Thomas W. Woonton.. as my father died when I was just 5, Pop was quite an important figure up through my teen years & Iím extremely happy to have this part of his Ancestry completed.
I note that there was no Jane Elizabeth Pole on your Allan web page.. my initial search for her birth cert came up empty but Iíve attached a copy of her death cert if you are interested.
I saw also that in the BDMís that 1825 James Poleís wife name was given as Mary Hadlam which Iíll have to check as Iíd thought it was Adlam
Ref Caroline Mary Pole 1885/1926.. her spouse was John Frederick William ( registered as Johann Friedrich Willhelm at birth) Baensche, rather than Baemsch,

Richard and Catherine Robertson Allan

Richard ALLAN was the eldest son of Andrew ALLAN and Catherine DRUMMOND. He was born in Queensferry, Edinburgh in 1833, just before his parents moved north up to the highlands to farm. Richard's prospects looked bleak for farming, so in 1851 he emigrated to South Australia aboard the ship Thetis. Richard was a shepherd on Yorke Peninsula, Gawler and Encounter Bay S.A., then prospected for gold at Bendigo, McIvor, Forest Creek, Fryer's Creek and Ballarat. He later met up with his younger brother David in 1854. Both were present in Ballarat during the goldrush skirmish known as the Eureka Stockade, where many miners and soldiers lost their lives in an uprising over absorbitant licence fees.(Richard was apparently arrested, but released for lack of evidence). Richard wed in 1855 in Adelaide S.A. to Catherine Robertson from Stirling,Scotland. By 1857 he and his brother had saved enough money to purchase uncleared, virgin scrubland in Newlyn, near Creswick. The original selection was 93 acres at 4 pounds per acre. A pioneer in that district, he was on the original Scrub Hill Church council along with his brother David and father Andrew. He brought up a family of six, with another five children dying young. Richard Allan From FF2001 - came 1851 to Adelaide on the Thetis but not in Passenger list, but Catherine Robertson is on the list by Di Cummins, which has 239 names
